This is a German-Polish co-production by first time movie director Rolf Kasteleiner who's a long time active in Germany's rather small off-theatre scene. Rolf had been searching for decent historic locations quite a while and ended up shooting half of the 19th-century costume drama in Neustrelitz, recommended by DOP Jakob Creutzburg who had worked there before, with strong support from Kunsthaus Neustrelitz.
After my long feature film experience 'Alfons – Alles hat seine Zeit' this was a lovely and intense 10-day trip in autumn 2014 to calm down again. We began shooting in Sczeczin, Poland and found the project to be more chaotic than expected and had to improvise and organize a whole lot for our eager Polish/German crew on the run. While shooting I went from AD in Poland to some kind of a production manager in Germany.
